On Oct. 24, police were called to the 4700 block of Penn Street where they found Carlos Maldonado, 19, in the hallway of his home, with a gunshot wound to the head. Maldonado was taken to Temple University Hospital where he died late Saturday.
On Oct. 26, shortly after 11 pm, a 42-year-old black male was shot four times on the 1000 block of Pallas Street in West Philadelphia. The victim was pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania at 5:23 am.

5 Murders, 22 Hours, 1 Neighborhood
Around 10 am on the 3000 block of North Howard Street police are investigating another murder - the fifth in the Badlands neighborhood in 22 hours. **Police have identified the victim as Luis Rivera, 32, Hispanic male.**
Yesterday afternoon two men were shot and killed in the 3000 block of North Howard Street. Police have identified the victims as Jose Ortiz, 45 of the 3200 block of Rorer Street and Robert Beltran, 38, of the 2900 block of Howard Street.
Last night in the area, around 9 pm, three men were shot. Barry Johnson, 33, of the 500 block of West York Street was shot in the head. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. Rubin Rasheen Eason, 28, of the 2300 block of North Hancock Street, was shot in the head and arm. He was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital at 9:41 pm. Another victim, 23, was shot in the back. He is listed in stable condition at Temple.

Two Shot Dead In North Philadelphia
Dozens of residents gathered behind yellow police tape as police investigate the murder of two men shot dead in Kensington around noon.
Two men, both wearing dark hoodies, approached the victims near the intersection of West Indiana Avenue and Mutter Street near Mascher Streets, police said.
One of the men pulled an assault rifle and sprayed at least 15 rounds.
One of the victims collapsed and died on the street in front of a row of garages along the 100 block of Indiana Avenue. The another was also pronounced dead.
Both live in the area, police said.
Police have no motive or arrest at the time.

Weekend gunfire leaves one dead, 6 wounded
A soldier home only a week from training was shot and killed in University City, one of seven people hit by gunfire over the weekend.
University of Pennsylvania police found Pfc. Terrence Davis, 18, and another young man shot late Friday night at 40th and Ludlow Streets after what police believe was an argument outside an arcade.
Davis, 18, of the city's Mantua section, was shot once in the back. He died early Saturday morning at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, three weeks before his 19th birthday.

Davis decided to join the Army while still in high school, his mother said.
"We figured it's better for him to do that and have a positive influence in his life than just to hang around," Valrita Gordon, 46, said.

Davis was a Junior Mason and talented drummer, playing at his church, Second Mount Zion, where he will be memorialized Friday, his mother said.
"My heart is sorrowed," Gordon said, her voice quavering. "I miss my son, but it also aches for the young man who thought it was his duty to pick up a gun and pull the trigger, because I can't see him knowing God."
About 7:15 p.m. Saturday, a deliveryman for a Chinese restaurant was shot in the chest in the 6900 block of Saybrook Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia in an apparent robbery attempt. The man, about 30, was in critical but stable condition at HUP.
About 1:50 a.m. yesterday, two people were shot at J and Lycoming Streets in the Northeast. A 19-year-old woman was shot in the left arm and was in stable condition at Temple University Hospital. A 24-year-old man was shot in the back and was in critical condition at Temple.
Less than a hour later, at 2:35 a.m., there was another double shooting at 55th and Poplar Streets in West Philadelphia.
An 18-year-old woman was shot once in the buttocks and was in critical condition at HUP. A 27-year-old man was shot in the neck and was in critical condition at Lankenau Hospital.

At 2:40 am, police found a black male, 35, sitting in the driver's seat of a Mercury Grand Marquis on the 1200 block of Washington Lane with a gunshot wound to the head. The male was pronounced dead at the scene.

Yesterday at 11:17 pm, Kendall Scott, 24, black male, was shot in the head and the chest on the 1500 block of North 52nd Street, near Lansdowne Avenue. Scott, of the 1700 block of North Wilton Street was pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania at 11:37 pm. Police have no suspects or motive.

Arrest in shooting of 2-year-old and grandmother
Yesterday, detectives received an anonymous call regarding the shooting of a two-year-old Hispanic girl and her grandmother.
The tip led police to the 5500 block of Lansdowne Avenue where they arrested Cornell Price, 21, black male.
The toddler and her grandmother were walking on the 3000 block of Tulip Street around 2:35 pm yesterday when they were struck by gunfire. The toddler sufffered gunshot wounds to her right upper thigh area. She was transported to Temple Hospital where she was stabilized and then transported St. Christopher Hospital for Children. The grandmother sustained a gunshot wound to her left foot and was transported to Temple Hospital in stable condition.
Price, of the 2100 block of East Auburn Street, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, illegal possession of a firearm, and other related offenses.

Two-Year Old Shot With Grandmother
Around 3 pm this afternoon a two-year-old and his grandmother were shot on the 3000 block of Tulip Street in the city's Kensington section.
The child was struck in the thigh and taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The grandmother was shot in the ankle and taken to Temple University Hospital. Police said both of the victims are listed in stable condition.

Road Rage Arrest
Christian A. Squillaciotti, 33, white male, of the 400 block of West Shunk Street was arrested yesterday around 6:20 pm for shooting Thomas Timko, 41, white male, while Timko was operating a gold SUV on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at approximately 8:40 pm, on I-76 Westbound East of the Passyunk Avenue exit.
Timko's 8-year-old daughter was in the backseat at the time of the shooting.
Timko remains in critical condition at the University of Pennsylvania.
Squillaciotti was charged with two counts attempted Murder, aggravated Assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, and other related offenses.

Vehicle of Interest
Police have obtained an EZ-Pass photo of a gray Ford Truck that could be the “vehicle of interest” sought in the October 10th shooting on I-76 at Passyunk Avenue.
The truck in the photo has an extended cab and is not a 4-door as originally reported.

Triple Shooting in North Philly
On Oct. 13, around 1 am, a 12-year-old black male was critically injured in a triple shooting in North Philadelphia.
The boy was riding in a minivan on the 1400 block of North Broad Street with two other males when police said a blue Buick LaSabre pulled alongside, and an occupant opened fire.
The minivan's 18-year-old driver, struck twice in the back, sped to Albert Einstein Medical Center. He and a 19-year-old passenger, who suffered a bullet graze to the forehead, were treated and released.
The 12-year-old boy was treated at Einstein for a gunshot wound to the face, and transfered to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children where he remained in critical condition.
Police have no motive or suspects.

On Oct 12, at 3:15 am Karimah Bollard, 32, black female, was stabbed repeatedly inside her home on 1600 block of north 16th Street near Cecil B. Moore Avenue, while her five children slept.
Police took Bollard to Temple University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 4:28 am.
Police arrested Bollard's boyfriend, Solomon Carter, 28, black male, and charged him with murder and related offenses.
Police said Carter had had a "series of domestic aggravated assaults against women" and had been released from jail less than a week before the killing for an assault on another woman.

Road Rage Shooting Leaves Man Critical
Around 8:45 last night, a man was shot in the head after he reportedly cut of another vehicle near the Walt Whitman Bridge, as he taking his daughter, 8, to her home in Norristown. Police said the daughter heard two bullets hit the rear passenger window and then saw her father slump forward. The car was found on the side of the westbound expressway near the Passyunk Avenue exit around 9:40 pm. The man was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in critical condition. Police are still looking for the gunman.

On Oct 4, around 8:30 pm, police found Steven Tucker, 53, black male, of the 2300 block of Seybert Street, in the driver's seat of a 1994 gold Mercury Grand Marquis suffering gunshot wounds to his chest.
Tucker was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:53 pm.

Rasheed Harrod, 16
Rasheed Harrod, 16, died on Oct 3, 1:10 pm, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, from a gunshot wound to the head he suffered the day before. Harrod, of Spring Garden Street near 34th, was shot on Oct 2 around 11:30 pm, on 34th Street and Wallace, four blocks from where he lived. Police are still searching for suspects.

On Oct. 5, around 8:30 pm, police found the body of a 35-year-old black male suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest in a car parked at 29th and Thomspon streets. The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:53 pm. Police reported no immediate arrests.

On Oct 4, around 7:45 pm, police found Robert Byrd, 36, black male, in an alley off of Allison Street near Jefferson, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Byrd, of Fairmount Avenue near 38th Street, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:02 pm.
Police later learned that a second victim, a 37-year-old black male, had been treated at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for a gunshot wound to his right arm.
Police are still searching for suspects in the shooting and a motive.

Marquel Colbert, 18
On Oct 4, around 7:30 pm, Marquel Colbert, 18, black male, was shot multiple times on Pratt Street near Oakland, around the corner from his home. Colbert was being driven to nearby Frankford-Torresdale hospital when police pulled the car over, based on radio information of a vehicle observed leaving the scene. A rescue transfer was called and Colbert was transported to Frankford-Torresdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:15 pm. Police have made no arrest, but said the shooting followed an argument.

On Oct 4, around 4:15 am police found Bernard Marrow, 41, black male, in a rear bedroom of his home on College Avenue in Poplar Street, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Marrow was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:25 am. Police have arrested Carlos Braswell, of Dayton Street near Powell Place, in Newark, NJ, and said the motive was an argument.

Around 2:35 am yesterday, patrons heard gunshots outside a bar near 55th Street and Baltimore Avenue in West Philadelphia. On the street they found Michael Lockhart, 32, black male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
