Police responding to a report of a robbery early this morning discovered two slain men in North Philadelphia apartment above a car stereo store. Patrol officers arrived on the 2900 block of North Fifth Street shortly after 1 am and found the bodies of two men in the rear bedroom of the second floor apartment. Both men were shot at close range, once in the head, said Lt. Mark Deggan of police department’s homicide division. Deggan, who described one of the victims as a “loner,” said police have tentative IDs on the victims, but are awaiting family notification. One victim is a 47-year-old white male, and the other police said is a Hispanic man in his late ‘30s.
Police are still investigating, and have not determined a motive for the shooting.
