Three months ago Commissioner Ramsey released a Crime Fighting Strategy that put forth the Police Department's mission, values, goals, guiding principles and strategies to reduce violent crime.
The Police Department is making good progress toward achieving their stated goals.
Homicide is down 24%, shooting victims down 25%, Part 1 violent crime down 4%, the percentage of seized guns has gone up 3.5% and the homicide clearance rate (solved cases) is at 77.8%.
The statistics for Ramsey's nine targeted trouble making districts are even better still.
Homicide in these districts is down 40%, shooting victims down 30%, Part 1 violent crime down 7.5% and the percentage of seized guns is up 3%.
After a violent weekend that saw five fatal shootings, there have been no reported homicides from Mon., April 28 through Thurs., May 1.
